BSc Computer Science

The basic objective of the program is to open a channel of admission for computing courses for students, who have done the 10+2 and are interested in taking computing/IT as a career. After acquiring the Bachelor’s Degree at University of Calicut, there is further educational opportunity to go for an MCA or other Master’s Programme like MSc (Computer Science), MSc (IT), MBA, etc., at this university or at any other University / Institute. Also after completing the BSc Computer Science program, a student should be able to get entry level job in the field of Information Technology or ITES or they can take up self-employment in Indian & global software market. The specific objectives of the program include,

  • To attract young minds to the potentially rich & employable field of computer applications

  • To be a foundation graduate program which will act as a feeder course for higher studies in the area of Computer Science / Applications

  • To develop skills in software development so as to enable the BSc Computer Science graduates to take up self-employment in Indian & global software market.

  • To train & equip the students to meet the requirements of the software industry in the country and outside.

The maximum intake for BSc program is 32. Admission is done as per the guidelines set by the University of Calicut from time to time.

The duration of the BSc Computer Science program shall be 6 semesters distributed over a period of 3 academic years. The odd semesters (1, 3, 5) shall be from June to October and the even semesters (2, 4, 6) shall be from November to March. Each semester shall have 90 working days inclusive of all examinations.

MSc Computer Science

The course of the MSc (Computer Science) programme is designed with the following objectives:

  • To equip students to take up challenging research oriented responsibilities and courses for their higher studies / profession.

  • To train and equip the students to meet the requirements of the software industry in the country and outside.

  • To motivate and support the students to prepare and qualify challenging tests such as JRF/NET/GATE etc.

The maximum intake for MSc program is 12. Admission is done as per the guidelines set by the University of Calicut from time to time.

The duration of the MSc (Computer Science) program shall be 4 semesters distributed over a period of 2 academic years. Each semester shall have 90 working days inclusive of all examinations.

PhD Computer Science

The maximum intake for PhD program is 2. Admission is done as per the guidelines set by the University of Calicut from time to time.

PhD Admission

Admission to the PhD program is offered by the University of Calicut in June and December in every academic year. Details regarding the admission are available at Directorate of Research, University of Calicut.
